Course Description:

This is a 3 day course that covers the felling and processing of trees upto 15 inches in diameter. This course prepares candidates for an assessment that covers the NPTC unit CS31.

Suitable for:

This course is for novice operators with little to no experience using a chainsaw. It is aimed at operators that are required to operate chainsaws for felling trees with a maximum diameter of 15 inches. 

Pre-requisites:

Candidates for this course must already have a qualification in CS30

Duration: 

This course will take 3 days to complete and a 4th day is required for assessments. All 3 days will be spent felling trees on site.

Times:

9am - 5pm (approx)

Learning Outcomes:

  • Identify the risk assessment and emergency procedures on a work site

  • Select and prepare equipment required for safe and effective felling

  • Fell trees smaller than 15 inches in diameter accurately using an appropriate method

  • Fell leaning trees

  • Remove branches in an affective manner

  • Crosscut stems accurately and safely to a given length

  • Stack timber using appropriate manual handling techniques

  • Take down small hung up trees safely using appropriate hand tools

Equipment Required:

  • Waterproof clothing

  • Chainsaw protective gloves

  • Chainsaw protective trousers 

  • Chainsaw protective boots

  • Helmet with visor and ear defenders

Cost:

The total cost of this course is £510 + VAT this includes both registration and assessment fees

Notes:

During the 4 days candidates will need to provide their own packed lunches unless they have previously ordered from the local pub
