 Course Discription:

This is a 2 day course that covers the maintenance of chainsaws and the crosscutting of timber under 15 inches in diameter. This course prepares candidates for an assessment that covers the NPTC units CS30.1 and CS30.2

Suitable for:

This course is for novice operators with little to no experience with a chainsaw. It is aimed at operators that are required to maintain chainsaws and crosscut timber only. 

Pre-requisites:

None

 Duration:

This course will take 2 days to complete and a 3rd day is required for assessments. The mornings will be spent maintaining saws while the afternoons will be spent learning different crosscutting techniques.

Times:

9am - 5pm (approx)

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand operator safety while maintaining and using a chainsaw

  • Be able to carry out routine maintenance on a chainsaw

  • Be able to start and check a chainsaw

  • Be able to safely crosscut timber under 15 inches in diameter

  • Stack crosscut timer

 Equipment Required:

  • Waterproof clothing

  • Chainsaw protective gloves

  • Chainsaw protective trousers

  • Chainsaw protective boots

  • Helmet with visor and ear defenders

Cost:

The total cost of the course is £390 + VAT this includes both registration and assessment fees

Notes:

During the 3 days candidates will need to provide their own packed lunches unless they have been previously ordered from the local pub
